These are cases (vv. 1–7) involving atonement and restitution where there is repentance. The word repentance in its Greek form and as used in the New Testament means a change of mind, heart, direction, and course of life.7 To repent thus means that restitution must follow. The sacrifice of atonement makes restitution to God; we must at the same time have made restitution to man. This fact is referred to in Leviticus 5:15.
